SugarCRM is a contact and lead management solution for small and medium-size businesses. The pricing is very competitive, and there is a free version  you can try out. The solution also boasts hundreds of features and extensions, as well as a high degree of customization. SugarCRM can be a bit confusing for new users, so companies may want to hire a consultant to optimize the system for them.

You should have put Zoho CRM on your list. I have been using it for the past 5 years and it is one of the best CRM services on the market for small businesses.

SugarCRM is Pretty Good

The setup process for SugarCRM was fairly straight forward. We were able to customize the entire system to our satisfaction.

The only issue we found with SugarCRM was with usability. Like most CRMs, the system is a bit slow, and some of the navigation features are not very easy. It is sometimes difficult (and slow), to have to move from an account to a contact and back again. Basic navigation features are so important for the satisfaction of daily users, such as myself.

SugarCRM can be integrated with smartphones such as Blackberry and the IPhone. We have not integrated to that extent, but would like to eventually. All in all, SugarCRM is a great program, however, its a bit slow and some of the navigation seems illogical, slow, and difficult for an active, daily user of the program.

Customer support is slow to respond to open tickets.

Setup and configuration was challenging. Getting the prerequisite software and libraries was the first hurdle. Then to try and debug the diagnostic messages during first run was difficult.

Customer support is free is non-existent, but paid I didn't use so cannot comment.

Training was good as far as online knowledge base and videos go.

Very happy with the level of customization and open architecture. Iv'e integrated with email and looking to integrate with SMS messaging. Most common features are creating drip marketing campaigns.

Setup was very straight forward and very easy. When customer support was needed I found them to be easily reachable and quick to solve issues and answer questions. Very knowledgeable staff. Customization is achieved by the use of in house or out sourced PHP development and can be kept in a different path configuration so that upgrades are not impaired. I have added an application development and support team, as well as a product manager as we have extended the core application to include a health care case management system. We take full advantage of the integrated reporting system that is offered with the pro version
